Sparkling light and rich, joyous color are characteristic of Valorie Snyder’s oil paintings, including portrait, still life, and landscape. Her style, carefully developed over the course of her 30-year career, reflects her training in classical realism and keen appreciation of the Impressionistic style.
Valorie’s paintings combine rich classic traditions with contemporary subjects, resulting in a style which speaks to today’s audience. Inspiration for her paintings comes out of her deep Christian faith. In uncertain times, it is her desire to bring hope and encouragement to others through her work.
Beginning with formal studies at Colorado State University and the University of Colorado, Valorie developed an understanding of contemporary approaches to art. Her classical training began at Atelier Richards in Amarillo, Texas. Under the direction of Kirk Richards (formerly an apprentice to Richard Lack), Valorie began the highly disciplined study of eye training. Atelier Richards is one of only a few studio schools in the U.S. devoted to teaching classical realist techniques. She has continued classical studies through the Art Students League of Denver and with Joshua Fallik of Boulder.
Valorie has exhibited her work in numerous galleries and shows nationally and in Colorado, including solo shows at the Town Hall Arts Center in Littleton and the Belmar Museum in Lakewood, Colorado. Her work may be found in private collections throughout the United States.
Valorie enjoys creating custom paintings of patrons’ favorite places, people and keepsakes.
She is a member of the Portrait Society of America, Oil Painters of America, The Art Students League of Denver; the Colorado Artists Guild, and Heritage Art Guild of Littleton.
